Hotel Tafelberg

This former hotel was an hospital during the Battle of Arnhem. Many injured men were helped here by doctors and nurses and citizens. Before the battle this hotel was the headquarters of the German Field-Marshall Model, who had to escape for the approaching British Airborne soldiers. He thought they landed to catch him because of his high rank. The English did not know of his presence in Arnhem. Due to a cease-fire, the heavily injured could go to German hospitals, which were safer and more comfortable. This house now contains apartments.
