St Elisabeth gasthuis/ Hospital
| In this hospital the injured soldiers, British and Germans, were treated. British and German doctors fought here for the lives of the injured soldiers. The Brigade-General Lathbury was also treated here. The hospital was sometimes British, sometimes German. During the cease fire wounded British and German soldiers were brought to this hospital which had beds with sheets. Lathbury escaped and reached England, because of the help of the Dutch Resistance. The Restistance organised Operation Pegasus I and Pegasus II. Pegasus I was a great success, but Pegasus II failed. Operation Pegasus brought British soldiers through enemy-lines back to their own troops. | ![]() |
