Amsterdamseweg 

The Amsterdamseweg was one of the main routes towards Arnhem. This was the route which the 1st Battalion would use. The route was called Leopard. XXX Corps would also drive on this way, if Arnhem-bridge was captured. But 1st Battalion was hit by German fire at the crossroads Amsterdamseweg-Wolfhezerweg. The German panzers were firing from the other site there. On September 18 4th Brigade landed and 10th Battalion would also use this route.
	Near the tank station TOTAL, especially near the waterpump station, which was also there in 1944, they where hit by enemy fire. 156 Battalion tried to help them with an attack on the Dreijenseweg, but this failed too. They had to retreat.
